Mastodons Take On Big Green in Post-Thanksgiving Battle

HANOVER, N.H. - For the fourth consecutive year, the IPFW men's basketball team will face off against the Dartmouth Big Green, this time in a post-Thanksgiving battle at the Leede Arena.

SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN
Dartmouth comes into the game after dropping its first two games to open the 2014-15 season, falling to St. Bonaventure and Hartford.

In the most recent loss, a 53-48 loss at Hartford, Alex Mitola scored a team-best 16 points, hitting 3-of-8 shots from long range as Gabas Maldunas scored 12 to go with a game-high nine rebounds.

Mitola leads the team by averaging 13.0 points per game, while Maldunas puts up 10.0. Maldunas, who was leading the Ivy League in rebounding prior to a season-ending injury last year, averages a team-best 9.0 boards per game with Connor Boehm averaging 7.5 go to with a scoring average of 5.0. Mitola has five of the team's 18 assists this year, while Maldunas' three blocked shots account for nearly half of the team's season total.

QUICK HITTERS
•   IPFW has recorded runs of at least 10-0 in each of its three wins this season, using a pair of 10-0 runs against Jacksonville, a 16-0 run against SIUE, and 19-0 against Manchester.
•   In IPFW's three wins against Dartmouth, the Mastodons have trailed for just 2:25 of game-play time, and have led for one hour, 52-minutes, and five seconds.
•   IPFW stands as the only team in the Summit League with four players occupying spots in the top-16 in the league scoring race, with Steve Forbes, Isaiah McCray, Mo Evans, and Joe Edwards all marking inside the top 16 overall.
•   The state of Indiana is 36-12 this season among its 10 NCAA Division I basketball programs, with nine of the ten sitting with records of .500 or better, including IPFW which is 3-1.
•   IPFW battled back but never led against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, just the second time over the last two years in which IPFW has not led in a game.
•   IPFW senior guard Isaiah McCray had a career-best effort against SIUE in points (23), rebounds (12), a career-high-tying six assists, while also blocking two shots.
•   IPFW was picked to finish first in the Summit League in the preseason poll of the league's head coaches, SIDs, and select media members.
•   IPFW's 25-11 record last year was the most wins and highest win percentage of any NCAA Division I team in the state.
•   The Mastodons will play in 11 games that will be nationally and regionally televised, highlighted by the December 8 game at Purdue. Among that group are five others that are televised on ESPN3, and five on Fort Wayne's PBS39 station.
•   IPFW has received votes in all three of the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 polls this season after appearing in the preseason poll for the first time in program history.
