'Dons Have A Tough Night Shooting The Three, Fall at IU
12/10/2014 10:52:00 PM | Women's Basketball
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The IPFW women's basketball team held Indiana to its second-lowest three-point shooting percentage of the season, but the Mastodons were unable overcome having a tough night of their own shooting the three, falling to the Hoosiers 80-37.
Haley Seibert led the Mastodons with 11 points, four assists, and two steals. Her consecutive made free throw streak was snapped at 54, which is sixth all-time in Division I history. Rachel Rinehart also scored in double-digits with 10 points to go along with a team-high six rebounds. Courtney Ogle and Kamilah Carter each chipped in five points off the bench for the 'Dons.
Indiana began the game on a 9-2 run, as the Mastodons were unable to recover from the early deficit. The Hoosiers led by as many as 19 in the opening 20 minutes, but the 'Dons fought back, scoring the final five points of the half. With the shot clock winding down, Ogle knocked down a three-pointer from six feet beyond the arc. Seibert then connected on a layup as time expired as IPFW trailed Indiana 36-22 at the break.
In the first seven minutes of the second half, the Hoosiers extended their advantage with a 16-2 run as the lead was too much for the Mastodons to overcome down the stretch.
As a team, the 'Dons finished the night shooting 14-of-54 from the floor, 3-of-25 from downtown, and 6-of-11 at the free throw line.
IPFW looks to bounce back on December 13 at No. 23/20 West Virginia with tip-off set for 4 p.m.
