Career-Highs Abound as Mastodons Fly Past Eagles

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Four IPFW players picked up a combined six career-bests on Sunday evening, as the Mastodons flew past the Judson Eagles by an 80-46 final score in front of 1,108 people at the Gates Sports Center.
Joe Reed scored a game-high 18 points, hitting 8-of-10 shots from the field, while Jure Gunjina and Brent Calhoun each set career-highs with 12 points. Joe Edwards scored eight points, as Mo Evans and Max Landis each added seven points. Calhoun grabbed a team-best seven rebounds - a new career-high - with Herbert Graham nabbing a career-best six in the win. Michael Calder dished out a game- and career-high six assists, while adding a pair of steals.
IPFW hit 57.4 percent of its shots in the game, including 32-of-50 (64%) from inside the three-point arc. The team also dished out 17 assists on the 35 made baskets, against just six turnovers.,
Judson led briefly in the game, as late as 6-4, and were tied 10-10 before the Mastodons ran off a 10-2 streak, which was followed by a 10-0 run over a 2:01 span to push the IPFW lead to 15 at 30-15. In all, IPFW closed the first half on a 24-7 run over the last 9:55 of the period, taking a 44-22 lead into the locker room at halftime.
A pair of 10-0 runs in the middle of the second half put IPFW ahead by as many as 42 (74-32) with 8:03 to play, before coasting to an 80-46 victory.
Judson did not have a player reach double-figure scoring, and were led by eight points each from Illya Galloway and Cortland Gillespie. Galloway pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.
