Rinehart Earns First POW Honor...
Rachel Rinehart was named The Summit League's Player of the Week for her performances Dec. 22-28. She was also named the Madness Summit League Women's Basketball Player of the Week award by College Sports Madness.
Rinehart earns her first career Player of the Week award after guiding IPFW to a win over Milwaukee. The sophomore guard scored a career-high 26 points on 8-of-10 shooting against the Panthers while adding three rebounds and three assists. Earlier in the week, Rinehart scored 12 points with four rebounds, two assists and two steals in a loss to Oakland. For the week, Rinehart averaged 19 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, one steal and one block per game. She had a 1.7 assist-to-turnover ratio while shooting 71 percent (12-of-17) from the field, 60 percent (3-of-5) from downtown and 92 percent (11-of-12) from the free throw line.
Knocking 'Em Down at the Charity Stripe...
After a 5-for-6 night at the free throw line against Milwaukee, IPFW women's basketball guard Haley Seibert fell one spot to second among NCAA Division I players in free throw percent at 95.5, for games played through December 28.
Seibert has connected on 64-of-67 attempts for the year, which includes a run of 54 consecutive made. Seibert trails Nebraska's Rachel Theriot, who has made 43-of-45 attempts for a 95.6 percent. To qualify for the national rankings, players must make a minimum of 2.5 free throws per game and play in 75% of their team's games.
Three-Point Streak...
The IPFW Mastodons have made a 3-point field goal in 477 straight contests, a stretch that ranks as the third longest active streak in NCAA Division I. Iowa State's streak is at the top of the list by making a 3-point field goal in 621 consecutive games. Sam Houston State is the only other team head of IPFW with 573.
