Women's Tennis Falls in Weekend Finale

MUNCIE, Ind. - IPFW dropped its weekend finale to the Ball State Cardinals by a 6-1 score on Sunday afternoon, capping a four-match weekend for the Mastodons.

IPFW (3-5) dropped all three of the doubles matches on the afternoon, with IPFW's No. 1 pair of Mayu Sato and Marcy Huck falling 8-5. Miloslava Shustova and Emily Richardson fell 8-3 at No. 2, while Carlota Trevino and Ella Norgren fell 8-2 at No. 3 pairs.

Sato picked up a 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 win at No. 1 singles, improving to 7-1 in the spring, picking up the team's point in the match in the process.

Norgren fell 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, as Shusova was topped 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3. Huck (6-3, 6-2) and Trevino (6-0, 6-4) fell at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, while Richardson was topped by a 6-1, 6-1 score at No. 6.

The Mastodons return to action on February 22 with a match at Valparaiso, before returning home a day later for a doubleheader against Marquette and Indiana Tech.
