Mastodons Host Weekend Series with Antelopes

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The 13th ranked IPFW men's volleyball squad is set to take on the Grand Canyon Antelopes in a weekend series on Thursday and Friday.

SCOUTING THE ANTELOPES
Grand Canyon comes into the weekend pair of games on a six-game win streak with two wins each over Limestone, UC Merced, and Quincy.
Ben Ponnet has been the primary attacker for the Antelopes, with a team-high 316 kills (4.10 per set) with Gerrard Lipscombe and Connor Dougherty standing with 184 and 132, respectively. Keith Smith averages 10.83 assists per set this year, as Ponnet leads the team with 23 service aces.
Defensively the team has four players with triple-figure digs, led by Jared Morrison's 193, as Ponnet has 125, Lipscombe 122, and Smith 111. dougherty has a team-best 60 blocks (0.90 per set), as Smith has 46.
GREAT START
IPFW's 15-4 start is the third-best 19-game season record in program history, trailing only the 1998 and 1999 squads that had a 16-3 record through 19 games. A win on Thursday will put the Mastodons into a tie for second-best such record.
MILESTONE MARKER
IPFW senior Eddie Rivera became the 17th member of the 1,000-kill club with his fifth kill of the match against Lees-McRae. He is currently 10 kills away from climbing into 16th on the all-time list.
