Softball Adjusts Schedule, to Play Pair Against Chippewas

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Because of a number of missed games for both programs, the IPFW at Central Michigan softball single game has switched to a doubleheader in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
IPFW has balanced offensive and pitching numbers, as Mastodon opponents are hitting just .194 against the team, while the 'Dons are batting .282 on the season.
Megan Flenniken, a two-time Summit League Pitcher of the Week, leads the Summit League with a 1.49 ERA, and has an 11-3 overall record with 76 strikeouts in 84.1 innings of work. Miranda Kramer is 12-5 with a 1.82 ERA, and has been named Pitcher of the Week four times this year. She ranks fifth in the country with 165 strikeouts in 103.2 innings.
Offensively Larissa Franklin leads the team with a .464 batting average, scoring 30 times in 31 games, with two home runs and a team-best 13 stolen bases. Ashleigh Bousquet (.356) and Dani Pugh (.351) are each well above a .300 batting average, with Kayti Hanson (.296) just off of the pace. Ashleigh Bousquet has scored 21 times, while Pugh leads the team with six home runs and 39 RBIs, the latter of the two numbers also leading the conference.

Central Michigan comes into the doubleheader with a number of similar opponents to the Mastodons, including South Dakota State, IUPUI, Seton Hall, Detroit, Ball State, Northern Illinois, and Eastern Michigan. The Chippwas recently split a doubleheader with conference foe Ohio, falling 5-3 in the opener, before returning for a 5-0 win in the afternoon finale.
Central Michigan uses a blend of strong pitching and solid hitting an route to their current record, as the team hits .266 on the year while opponents are limited to just .222 at the plate. The team uses three primary pitchers during the year: Rachael Knapp, Morgan Yuncker, and Chelsea Sundberg. Knapp and Yuncker each have six wins, while Sundberg has five. Knapp leads the trio with a 1.86 ERA to go with her 6-2 record, as Yuncker is 6-1 with a 2.25 ERA and Sundberg 5-6 with a 3.11 ERA.
