
Mastodons Win Colorado Opener 6-1 over Northern Colorado

GREELEY, Colo. - The IPFW men's tennis team swept the doubles point, before dominating in singles, as the Mastodons hit few hurdles in their first match in high altitude by topping Northern Colorado by a 6-1 score on Wednesday afternoon.
The win improves the team to 18-7 on the season, while setting up a key Summit League battle over the weekend with the top seed in the upcoming Summit League Championships on the line when the Mastodons face off against the Denver Pioneers.
In their match against Northern Colorado, IPFW got doubles wins from Gerard Guell and Martin Muadi by an 8-2 score at No. 2 pairs, before Daniel Kang and Andres Cobos won 8-4 at No. 1 doubles, giving the squad the best two-of-three doubles point. Connor Andrews and Karl Wangensten-Oye wrapped up the doubles portion with a hard-fought 8-6 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Cobos (6-1, 6-1) and Guell (6-2, 6-0) picked up wins at No. 2 and No. 4 singles, respectively, before the Mastodons clinched the match victory with a Muadi 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles. Jonathan Raa followed with a 6-4, 7-6 win at No. 3 singles, before Kang picked up a 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 win at No. 1 singles gave IPFW its six points, as the Bears picked up their sole win at No. 6 singles.
The Mastodons return to action on April 18 in the regular season finale, as the team faces off against the Denver Pioneers at 2 p.m. ET, with the winner of the match standing as the lone remaining undefeated squad in the Summit League heading into the Summit League Tournament.
