Softball Opens Final Week of Regular Season in Ypsilanti

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW softball team opens its final week of the regular season on Tuesday evening, when the team travels to Ypsilanti, Mich., to take on the Eastern Michigan Eagles in a non-conference doubleheader.
SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
IPFW heads into its final regular season week leading up to the Summit League Championships to be held in Fargo, N.D. next weekend.
Leading the way for the Mastodon offense this year as been junior outfielder Larissa Franklin, who is batting .437 with a team-high 40 runs scored, as Ashleigh Bousquet (.358) and Dani Pugh (.318) each hit over .300 on the season. Bousquet is second on the team with 38 runs scored, while clubbing a team-best 15 doubles. Pugh leads the Summit League with 48 RBIs this year, and lead the Mastodons with eight home runs. Hillary Kartman, who is batting .343, is second on the team with seven home runs and 29 RBIs, as Ashleigh Bousquet has 27 and Alex Bousquet 26 to go with her four home runs and 24 runs scored.
IPFW has used two starting pitchers this season, in junior Miranda Kramer, who is 16-8 with a 1.81 ERA and Megan Flenniken, who is 16-5 with a 1.85 ERA. Kramer is third in the NCAA in strikeouts per seven innings, and has 260 strikeouts this season in 162.1 innings of work, while giving out 56 walks. Flenniken has 114 strikeouts in 121.1 innings this year with 33 walks. Kramer is tied for seventh in the country with 10 shutouts, while Flenniken has six shutouts, 41st-most in the country.

Abby Davidson leads the team with a .292 batting average, while scoring 19 times, also a team-best 19 runs scored. Michelle Krieghauser is batting .288 with a team-best 13 doubles, and is one of four players with multiple home runs on the season. Lindsay Rich, who is batting .209, leads the team with four home runs while driving in nine. Amanda Stanton has driven in a team-best 22 runs, while batting .260 this year.
Leading the pitching staff has been Rich, who is 5-13 in the circle in 131 innings of work and a 4.92 ERA. She has struck out 81 batters while walking 54, as opponents hit .302 against her. Lauren Wells is 1-11 in the circle with a 5.02 ERA, starting 11 times and 76.2 innings. She has struck out 65 batters and walked 67. Abbie Minsker has also started 11 games, and seen 34.2 innings of work with a 5.25 ERA and a 2-4 overall record.
