FARGO, N.D. - The IPFW softball team will look to defend its 2013 Summit League Tournament title, as the team returns to the scene of last season's tournament run as the second seed for the 2014 Summit League Softball Championships.

SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
The Mastodons head into the Summit League Championships riding a nine-game win streak, with two wins each over North Dakota State, Bowling Green, and Eastern Michigan, and a three-game sweep of the IUPUI Jaguars.
IPFW, which put six players on the All-League teams, is led by Summit League Pitcher of the Year Miranda Kramer, who leads NCAA Division I in total strikeouts with 301, and is fourth in the country in strikeouts per seven innings. She has a 1.62 ERA to go with a 19-8 overall record. Megan Flenniken is 17-5 on the season with a 2.00 ERA and 122 strikeouts in 129.1 innings of work.
Offensively, Larissa Franklin has a team-best .456 batting average, while also standing second the Summit League with 46 runs. Four-time First Team All-Summit League honoree Ashleigh Bousquet has climbed to second on the team in batting average, hitting .370 on the season with five home runs and 30 RBIs. Alex Bousquet, who was named Second Team All-Summit League, is third on the team with a .321 batting average to go with 32 RBIs, which is tied for second on the team, and seven home runs. First Team All-League catcher Dani Pugh leads IPFW with 10 home runs, and paces the Summit League with 53 RBIs.

Scouting the Bison: The Bison come into the game having won five in a row, with the team's last loss coming on April 20 at the hands of the Mastodons. Alex Sobrero leads the Bison with a .374 batting average, while Jackie Stifter hits .358 on the year, as six Bison regulars hit at .300 or better on the season. Amanda Grable leads the team with six home runs, as Cheyenne Garcia (.354) has a team-best 44 RBIs and 17 stolen bases.

Ali Mosier has a team-high 33 runs scored to go with a .341 batting average. She has clubbed eight home runs and leads the team with 35 RBIs. Sarah Lawrence (.326) and Angela Bartucci (.306) also hit over .300 for the Jaguars.
