Mastodons Remain on Road with Northern Kentucky Matchup

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The IPFW men's soccer team remains on the road as the 'Dons travel to Highland Heights, Kentucky, to face the Northern Kentucky Norse on Sunday, September 14. The match is set to kick off at the NKU Soccer Stadium at 3 p.m.

SCOUTING THE MASTODONS

IPFW (2-2-1) looks to extend its winning ways, following a 1-0 shutout at Asbury University on Friday night. The Mastodon's blanking was the second shutout of the year for the Blue and White, and first since the season opener against St. Joseph's (Ind.) on August 29, when the 'Dons topped the Pumas 6-0.

The Mastodons have kicked off the season with the ability to spread the ball around the field, as nine different student-athletes have scored a goal. Jacob Murphy, Scott Williams, Britt Watts, and Corey Tom each have three points (1 g, 1 a). Of all the players with at least five shots, Austin West leads the team by placing .455 percent (5-of-11) of his shots on goal.

Cody Schweitzer and Raphael Kotzock have split time in the net for the 'Dons, each seeing action in at least three matches. Kotzock leads the team with a .667 save percent after facing 46 shots, while Schweitzer has earned a 1.60 goals against average.

SCOUTING THE NORSE

Northern Kentucky (1-1-2) enters the match after suffering its first loss of the season. The Norse dropped a 2-1 decision at Bowling Green on Friday night, with the Falcons scoring the game-winning goal in the 85th minute of play.

The Norse are led by Caleb Eastham and Cian McDonald, each with four points and three shots on goal. Eastham leads the team in goals scored (two), while McDonald had a goal and two assists. A.J. Fleak has started all four games for NKU, making 21 saves for a .840 save percent, while facing 64 shots. Fleak has one shutout on the year and a .890 goals against average.

ALL-TIME SERIES

Northern Kentucky leads the all-time series 13-2-3. Over the previous four meetings, IPFW has gone 1-2-1 against the Norse, including a 2-2 tie last season in Fort Wayne, on August 30, 2013.
