BROOKINGS, S.D. - The IPFW women's volleyball team opens Summit League play on the road, as the Mastodons travel to South Dakota State on September 28 with first serve set for 6 p.m.

Summit League Openers...
Since IPFW joined the Summit League in 2007, the Mastodons are 2-5 all-time in Summit League openers, dropping the last three openers. The last time IPFW won its Summit League opener was at home against Oakland in 2010. In their first league match at home in the Gates Sports Center, the 'Dons are 5-2. However, in the first Summit League match on the road, the Mastodons are 2-5 all-time. IPFW last won its first Summit League road match at IUPUI in 2011 in five sets.
Spencer Keeps going...and going...and going...
Emily Spencer has run her consecutive matches in double-digit kills to 35, a program record. Spencer's streak began on Sept. 17, 2013 against Eastern Michigan. She eclipsed former Mastodon Fabiana Souza's mark of 26 straight from Nov. 15, 2002 through Oct. 18, 2003. Spencer also had a streak of 24 matches to begin her career during the 2011 season. She also previously had a 23 consecutive match streak from Sept. 18, 2012 through Sept. 4, 2013.
Climbing the Career Ladder...
Not only is Emily Spencer climbing the IPFW career rankings in kills, she also currently ranks 2nd among all active women's volleyball players with 1,758 kills. Her total trails only Edina Begic of UALR. Spencer was one just six juniors in the top 50 active kill leaders at the end of the 2013 season.

On November 16, 2013 at home against North Dakota State, Emily Spencer became the 8th player in school history to amass 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs. Kendall Wienkes needs 139 kills, and 18 digs to join the club.
