Mastodons Renew Rivalry at IUPUI

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The IPFW men's soccer aims to notch another Summit League victory as the Mastodons travel to Indianapolis to face in-state rival IUPUI on October 18 at 3 p.m.

Scouting the Mastodons

IPFW will be looking for three points as the Mastodons continue battling for position in the Summit League standings. After two league matches, the 'Dons sit fourth, just four points behind front-runner Denver. The top four teams at the end of the regular season will play in the Summit League Championship.

Zach Tom and Austin West lead the Blue and White with eight points, while Jose Rodriguez is right behind with six. West leads the team with four goals as Corey Tom and Thilo Körperich each has three assists. Raphael Kotzock leads the 'Dons with 37 saves through 11 matches.

Scouting the Jaguars

IUPUI enters the match 0-7-5 overall, with a pair of ties against preseason Summit League favorites Denver and Omaha. Clint Hoffa leads the Jags with nine points coming off four goals and an assist, while Jacob Singer and Nick Anderson are tied with three assists each. Eduardo Cortes has started each match in net, earning 77 saves with a 1.60 goals against average.

Series History

Both teams are knotted at 10-10-2 in the long-standing rivalry, with the Mastodons taking the previous meeting 4-0 in Fort Wayne last season. Austin West booted a hat trick in the opening half as Randy Maksimik scored the final goal of the match in the 70th minute. Jacob Murphy earned two assists in the match while Raphael Kotzock made a pair of saves for the shutout.

Last Time Out

The Blue and White were unable to pull off the upset as a pair of opening half goals downed the Mastodons 2-1 at Cincinnati. Austin West scored the lone goal for IPFW in the 14th minute.
