Mastodons Host No. 7 Denver for Senior Day

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – IPFW men's soccer team host No. 7 Denver in the final regular season match of the year. The match will begin at the Hefner Soccer Complex at 7 p.m., with Senior Day festivities occurring prior to the match.

Scouting the Mastodons

IPFW needs a win to reach the Summit League Tournament for the second-consecutive season. Zach Tom leads the Blue and White with 11 points, coming off four goals and three assist, while Britt Watts has earned nine points off three goals and three assists. Both Corey Tom and Thilo Körperich have three assists on the year, while Raphael Kotzock has led the 'Dons with 63 saves through 16 matches.

Additionally, the match against No. 7 Pioneers will be IPFW's Senior Day as Randy Maksimik, Jose Rodriguez, Bill Whitcomb, Corey Tom, Austin West, and Darnell Parris will each be honored prior to the match.

Scouting the Pioneers

Denver enters the match ranked seventh nationally and the only undefeated men's soccer team in Division I. The Pioneers have allowed just a single goal in Summit League play, ending the match against IUPUI in a 1-1 tie earlier this year. Andre Shinyashiki leads Denver with five goals as there are three Pioneers with 10 points during the season.

Previous Meeting

The Mastodons fell to the Pioneers, 0-3, in last year's Summit League Semifinals, held in Denver. Jacob Murphy, Jose Rodriguez, and Stephen Danielian each has a shot on goal while former 'Don Cody Schweitzer earned four saves.

Last Time Out

The Mastodons suffered a tough 2-3 loss against Wright State on November 3. Spencer Brown and Zach Tom each scored for the Mastodons in the opening 20 minutes, while Raphael Kotzock came within one save of tying his career high of nine in a single match.

Looking Ahead

With a win, IPFW will clinch a spot in the Summit League Tournament for the second-consecutive year. The Mastodons currently sit fifth in the league table, while the top four teams make the Summit League Tournament with the tournament winner earning an automatic bid in the NCAA Tournament.
