
IPFW Playing Indiana For First Time Ever On Wednesday Night

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- IPFW will play on the road at Indiana University of the Big Ten Conference in men's basketball on Wednesday night, December 9, at Assembly Hall in Bloomington beginning at 7 p.m.. The Mastodons (7-3) of second-year head coach Jon Coffman will be playing the in-state Hoosiers for the first time ever, and have been led in scoring through the first 10 games by the backcourt trio of junior Mo Evans/Indianapolis (15.1), redshirt-senior Max Landis/Indianapolis (13.8) and redshirt-freshman John Konchar/Chicago, Ill. (10.2), along with senior Joe Reed/Greenwood (10.1). Indiana is coached by Tom Crean, who is in his eighth season at IU, and the Hoosiers have four scoring in double-figures: sophomore James Blackmon Jr. (16.4), senior Yogi Ferrell (15.0), junior Troy Williams (12.8) and freshman Thomas Bryant (11.8).

The Mastodons took a 7-6 advantage at 17:36 after a three-point field goal by Joe Reed, and IPFW seemed to stun Utah somewhat when it extended the lead to 18-11 at 14:24 following a layup by Reed. Evans scored 11 points during the first 4:47 of the game, including nine-straight on four consecutive possessions. The Utes, however, fought back and led 27-22 at 7:44, but IPFW rallied back to within 33-31 at 2:03 after another three-pointer by Reed, who scored 12 first-half points. Evans closed the period with a jumper and another three-pointer to make it a three point game at the break, 39-36, finishing the half with 18 points. Evans made another three-pointer early in the second half to tie the contest at 41-41 with 18:46 left, and it was tied at 44-44 after a three-pointer by Max Landis with 17:55 to play.
