Women's Tennis Earns Second Straight Win

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The IPFW women's tennis team picked up its second straight win of its week trip through the midwest, topping Missouri State by a 5-2 score on Monday afternoon.
The Mastodons started strong in the match, picking up a doubles win from Alina Schibol and Sara Sherif by a 6-3 score at No. 3 doubles. The No. 1 doubles team of Marcy Huck and Mayu Sato earned an identical 6-3 score, giving IPFW the doubles point.
In the first outdoor match of the 2015 spring season, Carlota Trevino picked up a quick 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles, and was followed by a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles by Marcy Huck. The match was clinched with a 7-6, 6-2 win by Mayu Sato at the top of the singles lineup, improving the Mastodons to 12-5 on the year.
An Alina Schibol 7-5, 5-7, 12-10 win at No. 2 singles was sandwiched by a pair of Missouri State wins; however, the damage was done for the IPFW win.
The Mastodons take back to the court and open Summit League play on Tuesday when the squad faces off against the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles.
