Baseball Kicks off Three-Game Series Against Bison

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW baseball team will look to snap out of its current seven-game losing skid over the weekend as the Mastodons host the North Dakota State Bison for a three-game series at Mastodon Field.

SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
IPFW comes into the game with seven batters hitting .300 or better on the season, led by Jackson Boyce's .415. Shane Trevino, who is hitting .344, leads the team with four triples and five home runs, while driving in 26, second most on the team. Brandon Soat has a team-best 33 hits, eight doubles, and 27 RBI's. Brock Logan (.333), Kendall Whitman (.310), Evan VanSumeren (.305) and Greg Kaiser (.300) all have double-figure runs scored while hitting over .300.
The pitching staff is led by freshman Evan Miller who has 38 strikeouts in 33.2 innings of work. Ryan Wells has struck out 33 batters in 29 innings to go with his 2-4 record, while Trevor Storie is 2-4 with a 6.25 ERA to go with 20 strikeouts.
SCOUTING THE BISON
Offensively the North Dakota State Bison are led by Taylor Sanders who is hitting .377 with 10 runs scored and five doubles during the season. Juan Gamez has a team-best four home runs while driving in 14 runs. John Skrbec leads the team with 15 RBIs to go with a team-best six doubles.
The pitching staff is led by Trent Keefer, who is 2-3 with a 6.12 ERA, while striking out 25. batters in 32.1 innings of work. The team's strikeout leader is Jay Flaa, the team's closer, who has 39 strikeouts in 24 innings of work, while walking just eight batters and holding opponents to a .163 batting average.
