The Mastodon men's soccer squad looks to return to the Summit League Championships a year after making an appearance in Denver as the fourth seed. The Blue and White return nine starters from a year ago, including its top-three point-scorers in Corey Tom, Austin West, and Jacob Murphy.Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan enters the match after winning its opener against Marshall, 2-0. The Broncos outshot the Bison 22-6 overall and held a 7-4 edge in shots on goal. Brandon Bye led the way for Western Michigan with seven shots and a goal. Cameron Sipple scored the other goal for the Broncos, while Zach Bock and Nick Wysong each earned an assist. Drew Shepherd made four stops on his way to a clean sheet.Series History

The 'Dons and Broncos fought to a 2-2 tie in the most recent meeting, and Blue and White hold a 2-4-4 record in Fort Wayne against Western Michigan. The Mastodons and Broncos fought to a 2-2 tie in the last meeting on August 31, 2014. After former 'Don Scott Williams opened the scoring in the 59th minute, Western Michigan's Edu Jimenez and Nick Wysong each scored to give the Broncos a 2-1 edge. Late in the match, current Mastodon Jacob Murphy knotted the score at two a piece. Britt Watts assisted on the goal in the 81st minute. The Blue and White suffered a heartbreaking opening day loss to St. Joseph's (Ind.), falling 3-2 in overtime at Hefner Field on Friday night. The Mastodons outshot the Pumas 20-12, but could only place four on goal. Andy O'Donoghue and Jose Rodriguez put up the two goals for the 'Dons, while Thilo Körperich and Darren Doyle added each assist. The scrappy match saw a combined seven yellow cards, with St. Joseph's earning four. IPFW held a 7-2 upper-hand in corner kicks, while the Puma goalkeeper made six saves.Looking Ahead
IPFW hits the road as the 'Dons travel to Edinburg, Texas for the Rio-Grande Valley Invitational.
