
Men’s Soccer Aims to Make School History against Northern Kentucky

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The IPFW men's soccer team looks to make school history when the Mastodons host Northern Kentucky on Sunday, September 13 at 1 p.m. A win over the Norse will set the new program record for the longest winning streak since the transition to Division I in 2001.

Scouting the Mastodons
The IPFW men's soccer team looks to sweep the weekend and extend its winning streak to four matches. The current three-match streak ties an IPFW record for the most consecutive wins since the transition to Division I in 2001. Austin West leads the Mastodons with three goals, while Zach Tom has earned six points off two goals and two assists. Raphael Kotzock and Jorge Trujillo split the shutout in the previous Mastodon match, as IPFW blanked Asbury 6-0 on Friday night.Scouting the Norse
Northern Kentucky enters the match after falling to Bucknell 1-0 on September 6. The Norse is 2-2-0, with wins over Memphis and Saint Francis (Pa.), while falling to Cincinnati 3-2 in the season opening match. Northern Kentucky is led by Calvin Murphy and Ronald Moss, each earning four points. Murphy has scored twice, while Moss has a goal and two assists. Diego Martinez and Dylan Carss have also earned two assists for the Norse. A.J. Fleak leads the NKU defense in net, only allowing four goals against, for an average of 0.96 in four matches. Northern Kentucky leads the all-time series 5-13-2 against IPFW, with the majority of the matches coming while both teams were a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference. IPFW and NKU each battled to ties in the previous two matches last season, 1-1, and in 2013, 2-2.Most Recent Meeting
The Mastodons and Norse fought to a 1-1 draw in Highland Heights, Kentucky last season on September 14. Corey Tom earned the game-tying goal in the 64th minute, coming off a penalty kick.
