Mastodons Get Tripped Up to Open Road Swing

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – A pair of late goals downed the IPFW men's soccer team 3-2 at Bowling Green to open road series. With the loss, the Mastodons fall to 3-4-0 on the year while Bowling Green improves to 6-1-0.
"The guys played hard tonight," said IPFW head coach Mike Harper. "I'm proud of them. We generated some much needed offense, but made a couple mistakes late in the game."
After taking a lead in the second half, the 'Dons gave up two goals in the final 13 minutes of play, giving the Falcons a late win. Bowling Green managed to grab a game-tying goal in the 78th minute after Pat Flynn found the back found the back of the net following a double assist from Max Auden and Brad Macomber. The Falcons would take the lead after Joe Sullivan scored following a two-on-two in the box to beat Raphael Kotzock.
After playing through a scoreless opening half, the Blue and White opened the scoring at Bowling Green after Thilo Körperich connected with Spencer Brown on a corner kick in the 52nd minute. The Falcons would respond with a tying goal five minutes later, coming from Alexis Souahy.
The Mastodons briefly took a one goal lead following an odd man rush which saw Jose Rodriguez finish for his third goal of the season. Both Oscar Uyamadu and Zach Tom would earn an assist on the goal.
Bowling Green doubled-up IPFW 10-5 with shots on goal, while the Kotzock held a 7-3 edge in saves against the Falcons.
IPFW is back in action on Tuesday, September 22 at 7 p.m., when the 'Dons travel to Cincinnati to face Xavier.
