Ogle Hits Five From Long Range in Mastodon Loss

VERMILLION, S.D. - Four IPFW women's basketball players scored in double-digits, but the Mastodons were unable to fight back from an early deficit as they fell at South Dakota 92-60.
Courtney Ogle led the 'Dons for the first time in her career with 15 points, all coming from long range. Keanna Gary, Kamilah Carter, and Rachel Rinehart all finished with 11 points. Selena Lozada grabbed a career- and game-high six rebounds for IPFW. Rachel Rinehart led the way with five assists while Gary had a game-high two blocks.
Gary scored the first two baskets for the 'Dons as the two sides exchanged early buckets. USD used a 7-0 run to take the lead, 9-4 that it would not relinquish. IPFW opened the 2nd quarter with a 10-2 advantage thanks to Ogle catching fire from downtown, as the 'Dons trailed 31-25 with 7:19 left in the period. USD answered with 16 straight before Lozada hit a jumper at the buzzer as the Mastodons found themselves trailing 49-29 at the half.
The 'Dons fought back again in the third, cutting the USD lead to single digits, 55-46, using a 17-4 with 3:27 left. The final 3:07 of the period saw the Coyotes answer with 13-0 run to end the frame that IPFW was unable to respond to in the fourth.
On the night, the Mastodons shot a season-high 58.8 percent (10-of-17) on their 3-point attempts. The team finished 20-of-47 (42.6%) from the field and 10-of-18 (55.6%) at the free throw line.
IPFW returns to action on January 23 for a 3 p.m. ET tipoff at North Dakota State.
