DAYTON, Ohio – Fort Wayne men's soccer dropped a non-conference contest at Dayton on Tuesday (Oct. 11) evening 5-0. The match was originally scheduled to be played in September but was rescheduled due to unplayable field conditions at Dayton.
The two clubs played an even first half with both recording seven shots in the first 45 minutes. The Flyers held a 1-0 lead at the break thanks to a goal by Bennett Lehner in the 37th minute. Dayton took control of the contest in the second half, scoring in the 51st minute and then three times in a 15 minute stretch later in the half.
The Flyers held an 18-15 edge in shots for the game. Five Mastodons recorded multiple shots. Oscar Uyamadu had five while Zach Tom, Edel Ensaldo Bustos, Matthew Lieshout and Alex Joneson each had two.
Dayton improves to 5-6-2. Fort Wayne falls to 7-5-0. The 'Dons return to action on Saturday (Oct. 15) in a Summit League match against Omaha. The contest will start at 7 p.m. at the Hefner Soccer Complex.
