Fort Wayne Goes Wire-To-Wire In 97-67 Exhibition Win Over Capital

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Fort Wayne men's basketball never trailed in their 97-67 exhibition victory over NCAA Division III member Capital on Thursday (Nov. 3) at the Gates Sports Center.
The Mastodons closed the first half on a 14-6 run to take a 19-point lead of 47-28 to the break. Mo Evans had 15 points and five assists in the first half. He finished with 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting with six assists, four rebounds and three steals.
Fort Wayne stayed hot coming out of the locker room, starting the second half on an 11-0 stretch. Four different Mastodons scored in the run which saw the 'Dons force a pair of turnovers and drain two 3-pointers.
For the game, the 'Dons shot 57.4 percent (31-of-54), including 14-of-28 beyond the arc. Fort Wayne held a dominant free throw edge, making 21-of-32 attempts while Capital connected on 5-of-7.
Bradley transfer Xzavier Taylor played his first game in a Fort Wayne uniform after sitting out last season due to NCAA transfer rules. He finished with 14 points, making 10-of-14 from the line.
Kason Harrell added 16 points. DeAngelo Stewart contributed 12 points with a 4-of-5 performance beyond the arc.
Thursday's contest was Fort Wayne's only exhibition of the year. The 'Dons tip it off for real on Nov. 11 at Arkansas in the season opener for Fort Wayne.
