Mastodons Fall in Final Day of Under Armour Invitational

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- The IPFW softball team lost to Texas State 9-0 in their final game in the USF Series - Under Armour Invitational.
Lauren Watson, Emily Olszewski, Kelly Pevely, and Sydney Windlan all had one hit at the plate for the Mastodons.
Texas State opened the game with a three-run homerun by Corrina Liscano in the first inning. In the second, the 'Dons had an opportunity to break into the lead when Amber Davis got aboard with a walk and advance to second off a Windlan single. IPFW was unable to convert on the opportunity when a strikeout ended the inning.
The Bobcats got two more runs across in the second inning. In the Mastodon third, Olszewski singled up the middle to get things going but the team was unable to move her into scoring position.
Pevely started the top of the fourth off with a single to right field but the team was unable to move her around the bases.
Mastodon starting pitcher Demitra Burns took the loss allowing five runs, four earned, in two innings. Elizabeth Snodgrass came in relief for IPFW pitching two innings, giving up four runs, three earned.
The team returns to action against Maine, March 7 in Clearwater, Florida, first pitch is set for 11 a.m.
