Scouting the Mastodons
Fort Wayne (1-1-0) will look for their second win of the season on Friday as they hit the road to Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Mastodons opened the season with a 4-0 win over Saint Joseph's (IN) before falling to Cincinnati on Monday. Jacob Murphy had a pair of goals in the win over Saint Joseph's which was played indoors at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana. It was Fort Wayne's first ever contest played indoors. The Mastodons out-shot Cincinnati but were edged by two goals by the Bearcats in the second half that put the match out of reach.
Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan enters Friday's contest 2-0-0, picking up a pair of 2-0 road wins over Marshall (August 26) and Dayton (August 28). Junior Brandon Bye scored the first goal in both of the Broncos contests, with Dzenan Nezirevic and Diego Lopez each adding a second goal to round out the victories. They out-shot their opponents a combined 25-5 in the two games. The Broncos received votes in the latest NSCAA Top 25 Poll.

This is the 22nd meeting between the Mastodons and the Broncos dating back to the first contest in 1988. They met last season in Fort Wayne, Indiana, when Western Michigan took the 1-0 decision thanks to a second half goal.
Looking Ahead
The 'Dons will face Green Bay at Aldo Santaga Stadium in Green Bay, Wisconsin on Sunday (Sept. 4) at 4 p.m. in a non-conference contest. Next weekend the Mastodons travel to Evansville's tournament to face Bradley in addition to Evansville.
