Fort Wayne Men's Volleyball Falls at Harvard 3-1

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Despite strong first and third sets the Fort Wayne men's volleyball team fell to Harvard 3-1 (28-26, 25-17, 23-25, 25-19) at the Malkin Athletic Center on Thursday night (Jan. 19).
The first set showed promise for the Mastodons, as freshman Richie Diedrich ended the set with six kills and a .714 hitting percentage. Fellow freshman Pelegrin Vargas added five kills in the first set. Fort Wayne as a squad hit .333 in the opening set of the night, but could not overcome a Crimson squad hitting .438.
Harvard continued its strong hitting in the second set, reaching a .417 clip, while only having one error.
In the third set, the 'Dons outhit the Crimson .378 to .207, while having 18 kills to Harvard's 11.
Vargas finished with 17 kills, which is a career-high for the freshman. Colton Stone added 13 kills and eight digs. Michael Keegan recorded his first double-double of the season and third of his career with 46 assists and 10 digs. Keegan's 46 assists and 10 digs were both season-highs. Jack Carlson chipped in eight digs.
Fort Wayne falls to 0-7 while Harvard picks up its first win of the season to move to 1-2.
The 'Dons are back in action on Friday night (Jan. 20) in Fairfield, Conn. as they take on Sacred Heart at 7 p.m.
