Fort Wayne put a three spot up in the third to start a stretch of five consecutive innings with a run. Jacob Dickson and Travis Upp both knocked in two runs in the contest. Jake Weber recorded four hits with a run scored. Brady Hettinger hit a solo home run in the seventh that put the 'Dons up 8-4. But a five-run Omaha eighth gave the Mavericks the lead for good at 9-8. The 'Dons put two runners on in the bottom of the eighth but couldn't push the tying run across the plate.
Cam Fowler threw the final three innings for the Mavericks to get the win. He is 1-0. Cameron Boyd suffers the loss in relief, he is 0-2.
Omaha improves to 5-18 (3-3 Summit) with the win. Fort Wayne falls to 4-17 (1-5 Summit). The 'Dons are back in action on Monday (March 27) in a non-conference contest with Goshen. First pitch in Fort Wayne is set for 3 p.m.
