Cross Country Teams Travel South To Kentucky

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Mastodons will continue the 2017 campaign at the Bluegrass Cross Country Invitational this Saturday (Sept. 9). This will be the first time the Mastodons have competed in Lexington, Kentucky in program history.

MEN'S PREVIEW (8K)
The Mastodons are coming off a third place finish at the Crusader Open last weekend where Logan Kitchen (19:07.3), Sam Williamson (19:21.3), and Alex Barton (19:44.2) were Fort Wayne's top three finishers in the 6K race. Fort Wayne's top three scorers were all top twenty finishers overall. Saturday's course at Kentucky will be the team's first 8K of the year.
WOMEN'S PREVIEW (5K)
The Fort Wayne women's team also earned a third place finish at last weekend's Crusader Open with a team score of 71. They will return junior, Emma Rafuse, who finished first in last weekend's meet with a school record time of 16:44.6 in the 5K. The time also set a new Summit League record for a 5K event. The Mastodons had three other top 20 finishers with Rebecca Sippel finishing 12th, Sophia Hirzel finishing 13th and Hannah Aschliman finishing 19th.
