SCOUTING THE MASTODONS (6-4-1, 0-1-0 Summit):
Purdue Fort Wayne is coming off a 2-2 tie in double overtime at Detroit Mercy on Tuesday night. Romain Lopez earned his fourth goal of the season off of an assist from Alex Joneson. Lopez remains tied for sixth in nation with seven assists. Freshman Ryan Bernt scored his second goal of the year off of a loose ball in the box. Keeper Tor Erik Larsen tallied six saves on the night, bringing his season total to 60 and keeping him ranked second in the country. Matthew Lieshout continues to lead the team in goals and is tied for sixth in the nation with nine.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS (9-0-2, 1-0-1 Summit):
The Pioneers are coming off of a 1-0 win in double overtime at Creighton on Tuesday night. Freshman Stefan DeLeone earned the only goal of the night and his second goal of the season late in extra time. Senior Andre Shinyashiki is currently leading the nation with 19 goals. Kenny Akamatsu, senior midfielder, is leading the team and ties for ninth in the nation with six assists. In the goal, Nick Gardner owns 18 saves on the season so far.
SERIES HISTORY:
Denver leads the overall series 6-0. The 'Dons fell 3-1 to the Pioneers last October in Fort Wayne. In 2016, the Mastodons lost 4-3 with two of their goals coming from current seniors Zach Tom and Matthew Lieshout.
