Emma Rafuse Wins 5K At Cincinnati’s Oliver Nikoloff Invite

CINCINNATI – Emma Rafuse won the 5K for the Fort Wayne women's track and field team at the University of Cincinnati Oliver Nikoloff Invitational on Saturday (March 31). Rafuse notched a time of 17:07.47, four seconds better than the second place finisher. It was a personal best mark for Rafuse, one of seven PRs set on Saturday.
Hannah Aschliman also had a PR in the 5K, taking 15th with a performance of 18:20.35.
Olivia Coleman set PRs in both the 100 and 200. She was fifth in the 200 (25.30) and 12th in the 100 (12.63). Tyra Hunt (26.65) and Jala Smith (27.05) also set PRs in the 200.
Abbigale Dunlavy set a PR in the 800 meters (2:35.04).
Lexi O'Connell turned in a time of 15.16 in the 100 hurdles for 10th. Fort Wayne took sixth in the 4x100 relay (Hunt, Ally Bailey, O'Connell and Smith) with a time of 49.32. Jenna Quillen was fourth in the 400 hurdles (1:06.46).
The Mastodons finished eighth at the meet with a team score of 22. Host Cincinnati (170) won the meet.
The 'Dons are back in action on April 13-14 at Ball State.
