Two School Records Fall On Friday At Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. – Fort Wayne women's track and field set a pair of school records on Friday (April 13) during the Ball State Challenge. The event was originally scheduled for two days, but shortened to one due to Saturday's weather forecast.
Lexi O'Connell notched a school record in the 100 hurdles. Stopping the clock in 14.56, good for fifth place. It was her second school record of the day. She teamed with Tyra Hunt, Ally Bailey and Olivia Coleman to record a school-record time of 48.06 in the 4x100 relay. They took seventh.
O'Connell also had a personal record in the 200 meters (25.99) as did Bailey (25.96) and Hunt (26.34).
Fort Wayne picked up two victories on the day. Emma Rafuse won the 1,500 meters in a personal best time of 4:34.89. Her time was nearly five seconds than the second place finisher. Teammate Rebecca Sippel started Fort Wayne's day in a big way by winning the 5K (18:06.07). Hannah Aschliman was two spots behind Sippel, taking third in the 5K (18:24.01).
Hope Crabtree ran the 100 in 13.27, for a PR.
Fort Wayne is back at in action on April 20-21 at Grand Valley State's Al Owens Classic.
