Scouting the Mastodons (9-24, 5-13 Summit): Fort Wayne is coming off a sweep of Omaha last weekend. The 'Dons used only four pitchers on the weekend. Brandon Phelps pitched a two-run (one earned run) complete game in game one. Damian Helm threw seven shutout innings in a run-rule shortened 11-0 win in game two. The following day, Chase Phelps tossed 7.2 shutout innings before Cameron Boyd finished the game.
Scouting the Flyers (10-25, 4-8 Atlantic 10): Dayton plays on Tuesday evening when Ohio University comes to Dayton. Pat Meehan leads the team in hitting at .291. Brandon Smith leads the team with seven home runs. The Flyers are hitting .243 as a team.
Series History: Dayton leads the all-time series 10-3. The last meeting between the two clubs came in 2013 when Fort Wayne won 18-10 in Dayton. The two clubs tried to play at Dayton earlier this year, but the game was canceled due to rain.
