‘Dons Tie It In The Ninth But Fall 3-2 At Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. – A ninth inning rally saw the Mastodons tie Tuesday's (May 15) game at Ball State, but the Cardinals responded in the ninth with a walk-off hit to defeat Fort Wayne 3-2.
Fort Wayne starter Shane Odzark allowed two runs in 6.0 innings as the Cardinals scored in the first and third innings. Trevor Armstrong pitched two scoreless innings before the Fort Wayne offense went to work in the ninth. Down 2-0, Garrett Moher recorded his second hit of the day with a home run to leadoff the ninth. Fort Wayne loaded the bases with two outs when Dylan Wilbert came up with a single. His hit scored Trenton Stoner to tie the game. However Mike Snyder was thrown out at the plate trying to give the 'Dons the lead.
Ball State responded in the ninth with a walk, sacrifice bunt and a hit by Noah Powell to give the Cardinals the win.
Fort Wayne out-hit Ball State 9-8, as seven different 'Dons recorded a hit.
TJ Baker (3-0) earned the win for the Cardinals. Duane Miller (0-2) suffered the loss for Fort Wayne.
Ball State improves to 29-23. Fort Wayne falls to 10-35. The 'Dons are in action again on Thursday (May 17) when Oral Roberts comes to town. First pitch at Mastodon Field is set for 3 p.m.
