Two Second Half Goals Lift Men’s Soccer To 3-1 Win At UTRGV

EDINBURG, Texas – Purdue Fort Wayne men's soccer took down Western Athletic Conference member UTRGV on Friday (Aug. 31) evening 3-1.
Freshman Alex Frank used a shot from the left side in the seventh minute to find the back of the net and knot the game at one. The goal was assisted by Romain Lopez.
It stayed a one-all game for the next 60 plus minutes. Finally in the 71st minute it was Lopez finding the back of the net to break the tie. His score put the 'Dons up 2-1. Not settling for a one-goal lead, the Mastodons went back on the attack. In the 82nd minute Chris Baranowski took a long pass form Matthew Lieshout and scored. It was Baranowski's second goal of the season. Lieshout earned an assist for his pass.
The home squad held a 9-8 edge in shots on goal, but the 'Dons made the most of their attempts.
UTRGV falls to 1-2-0. The Mastodons improve to 2-1-0. The 'Dons play Houston Baptist on Sunday.
