Bradley Edges Men’s Soccer With Overtime Goal 2-1

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Bradley used a late goal in extra time to defeat the Purdue Fort Wayne men's soccer team 2-1 on Friday (Sept. 14) evening at the Hefner Soccer Complex.
Purdue Fort Wayne was on the board quickly with a goal in the first five minutes of the contest. Matthew Lieshout scored his sixth goal of the season for the tally. He is second in the league in goals. The score was set up by a free kick from Romain Lopez. The senior Lopez now has six assists on the season, the most in the league. He entered the night fifth in the NCAA in total assists.
The 'Dons took the 1-0 lead to half. Bradley earned the equalizer in the 56th minute. Dayekh Younes delivered a free kick to Alex Ciaramitaro who completed the play for a goal.
It stayed knotted at one all the way to the final minute of the second overtime. It was a free kick again. Younes found Gerit Wintermeyer for a header and the game winner.
Bradley stays undefeated and moves to 5-0-2. Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 3-3-0. The 'Dons host Northern Kentucky on Monday (Sept. 17). It will be a 7 p.m. start for the 'Dons and Norse in a battle of two former Division II conference mates.
