SCOUTING THE MASTODONS (3-3-0, 0-0-0 Summit):
The 'Dons are looking to bounce back from a 2-1 overtime loss to undefeated Bradley last Friday. Matthew Lieshout scored his sixth goal of the season in the game. He is second in the Summit League in goals. The 'Dons have 17 goals on the season, one short of the 18 they scored all of last year. Monday's meeting will be the second of five contests against Horizon League opponents this year.
SCOUTING THE NORSE (6-1-0, 1-1-0 Horizon):
Northern Kentucky's only loss on the season came in league play, a 2-1 overtime loss to Wright State. It is the only common opponent so far between the two clubs. Purdue Fort Wayne also dropped a one-goal contest to Wright State. The Norse have shown an ability to win close games as five of their six wins have come by only one goal. Alex Willis leads the Norse with seven goals on the season.
SERIES HISTORY:
Northern Kentucky leads the all-time series 16-3-4. The 'Dons have earned a win or a tie in three of the last five meetings. The 'Dons fell 2-1 last season at NKU. The last game in Fort Wayne came in 2016 with the 'Dons winning 2-0. The two clubs were long time members of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, before both schools transitioned from Division II to Division I.
HELPING HAND:
Romain Lopez' six assists lead the league. It is already the most assists for a Mastodon in a season since Max Touloute (9) and Jason Mills (6) in 2011.
