Men’s Cross Country Takes Third Saturday Morning At Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Purdue Fort Wayne men's cross country pulled in a third place finish at the 8K Evansville Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 19).

Freshman Draven Thompson ran a time of 26:18.2 to earn 12^th and lead the Mastodons. The next four Mastodons were within 40 seconds of Thompson and all set season 8K bests. Senior Robert Peck grabbed 14^th (26:23.8). Sammy Moran was 16^th (26:26.3). Husam Saleh took 22^nd (26:48.4) and Michael Oliver was 24^th (26:54.6). Peck and Moran's times were career bests.

Alex Barton ran a time of 27:19.0 (34^th) and Karter Tow totaled a season-best time of 27:25.5 (36^th) with Austin Rockstroh following a spot behind with a career-best 27:28.5.

Conner Bayne (28:50.1), Cory Waldron (29:36.6) and Weston Miser (30:18.2) rounded out the Mastodons on the day.

Marshall finished in first (26) and Morehead State (68) took second. The 'Dons edged Western Kentucky, Evansville, Vincennes and Kentucky State.

The Mastodons are back in action on Nov. 2 at the Summit League Championships hosted by North Dakota State.
