Moran Leads Cross Country to Fifth at Championships

FARGO, N.D. - Purdue Fort Wayne men's cross country finished fifth overall at the program's final Summit League Championships Presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare 8K in Fargo, N.D. on Saturday (Nov. 2).
Sammy Moran led the way for the Mastodons with a 24th overall finish with a career-best time of 26:16.9. Robert Peck finished up next for the Mastodons in 31st and had a time of 26:52.5. Alex Barton (35th, 27:13.2), Husam Saleh (37th, 27:29.70), Draven Thompson (39th, 27:33.6) and Austin Rockstroh (40th, 27:40.8) ran their way into the Top 40 for the 'Dons.
Michael Oliver (43rd, 27:58.3), Karter Tow (44th, 28:06.1) and Conner Bayne (48th, 29:09.4) rounded out for Purdue Fort Wayne in their first collegiate conference championship.
The Mastodons ended the meet in fifth place with 142 points. South Dakota State was the overall team winner with 15 points. Joseph Minor-Williams from South Dakota State was the individual winner with a time of 24:43.6.
Up next for the men's cross country program will be the NCAA Great Lakes Regional hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Madison on November 15. The men's will compete in a 10K for the first time this season at 1:30 p.m. at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course in Madison, Wisconsin.
