MXC Finished Strong With Seven PR's at Notre Dame

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - After a cloudy afternoon at the Joe Piane Invitational on Friday (Oct. 4), the Purdue Fort Wayne men's cross country team ran away with seven PR's. As a team, the Mastodons finished one spot ahead of future Horizon League foe, Green Bay.
In the gold division, Draven Thompson led the way for the Mastodons can finished in 77th place out of 158 runners and a time of 25:45.52. In the 95th spot was Sammy Moran with a time of 26:00.44. Cory Waldron came in the 128th (26:43.27) and two spots behind him was Andrew Whitinger in 130th (26:44.78). Michael Oliver (141st, 27:22.79), Robert Peck (145th, 27:31.66), Austin Rockstroh (146th, 27:36.00) and Husam Saleh (149th, 27:48.58) rounded out the 'Dons' day.
In the open division, the 'Dons had four runners. Karter Tow finished first for the Mastodons with an 89th-place finish and a time of 27:29.59. Right behind Tow was Weston Miser in 90th place and a time of 27:33.21. Alex Barton (94th, 27:43.59) and Conner Bayne (111th, 29:29.13) rounded out the open division.
Thompson, Moran, Whitinger, Oliver, Tow, Miser and Waldron all had a PR's.
At the end of the day, Purdue Fort Wayne came in 19th place. The overall winners of the meet were Utah Valley and Miami (OH).
The Mastodons will head to Evansville on October 19. The Evansville Invitational will be the last meet before the 'Dons compete at the final Summit League Championship for the cross country program.
