FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Kevin Fee (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) and Zac Baden (Poplar Grove, Ill./North Boone/Rock Valley College) have committed to join the Purdue Fort Wayne baseball program for the 2021 season, head coach Doug Schreiber has announced.
Fee, a 6-5 right-handed pitcher, had the lowest ERA on the New Albany High School pitching staff his junior season. That season his ERA set a new school record. He helped his team that year to a regional semifinalist berth. His New Albany team the following year went 27-2 and was ranked as the No. 1 team in Division I in Ohio for much of the season. Fee also played for Ohio Elite Ratcliff. Fee's father played baseball at Miami (Ohio).
"Kevin knows how to pitch and comes from a great baseball background that we are excited about," Schreiber said. "He will make an immediate impact for us and with his size and work ethic. Kevin's ceiling is high."
Baden, a 6-0 shortstop, started 38 games in 2018 for Rock Valley College. He hit .313 with a .460 on-base percentage. He scored 41 runs, stole 21 bases, walked 27 times and had only 18 strikeouts. He redshirted due to injury in 2019. In high school, Baden had a career .390 batting average. He was named all-conference in 2015.
