Season Opener Halted In Seventh With ‘Dons Up 10-2

The game will try to be continued on Sunday prior to the scheduled single game. If it cannot be continued it will be a 10-2 final.
The 'Dons opened the game with seven runs in the first inning. Purdue Fort Wayne earned three hits and three walks in the inning. A Jack Lang single drove in a pair to make the score 6-0 before Lang came around on a wild pitch to make it 7-0.
Lang had another RBI in the third when he used a sacrifice fly to score Austin Wilkie who opened the inning with a double.
In the sixth, Andrew Lawvere singled and scored on a balk. Aaron Chapman reached on a fielder's choice two batters later and then came around for the Mastodons' 10th run.
Chase Phelps started for the 'Dons and cruised through six, giving up just two runs (one earned). He had six strikeouts.
The two clubs will aim to play a doubleheader on Saturday in an 11 a.m. CT start time.
