Mastodons Sweep Doubleheader At Alabama A&M

Game One – Purdue Fort Wayne 9, Alabama A&M 8
Down 8-2 entering the eighth, the Mastodons knotted it up with six runs in the eighth. With one out, Travis Upp singled and then Andrew Lawvere and Robert Young III walked to load the bases. Alec Brunson doubled to score a pair. A strikeout followed and the score was still only at 8-4. Aaron Champan followed with an RBI single to score Young. Jack Lang doubled to score Brunson. Then the big hit came, in the form of Garrett Mohler's triple to knock in Lang and Chapman to tie the game at eight.
In the ninth, Upp singled to start the frame and came around to score on a Brunson sacrifice fly.
Lawvere hit a home run for the 'Dons in the fourth.
Tyler Kissinger threw a scoreless seventh and eighth to get the win. He is 1-0. Sean Ferguson threw a scoreless ninth to get his first save as a Mastodon.
Game Two – Purdue Fort Wayne 5, Alabama A&M 4
The 'Dons opened the scoring with two runs in the first on a Young triple to score Upp and Mohler.
Alabama A&M followed with two in the second and two in the third to go up 4-2.
Purdue Fort Wayne made it a 4-3 game in the fourth on a RBI groundout by Dylan Stewart to score Austin Wilkie. Down 4-3 in the fifth, the 'Dons tied it on a wild pitch that scored Lang. Young then knocked in Brunson for what would be the winning run.
Trevor Armstrong pitched the fourth for the 'Dons and got the win. Spencer Strobel tossed a perfect fifth to get what would be the save. The game was halted after five due to darkness and will stand as a win for the 'Dons.
The two clubs will finish Friday's halted game on Sunday before playing the schedule game on Sunday to close the series.
