‘Dons Top Alabama A&M With 6-5 Decision On Sunday

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Garrett Mohler was 3-for-4 with a 3-run home run and two runs scored to lift Purdue Fort Wayne to a 6-5 non-league win over Alabama A&M on Sunday (Feb. 17) afternoon to complete the four-game sweep of the Bulldogs.
Five of Purdue Fort Wayne's six runs came in the first two innings. Mohler led the game off with a walk and came around to score on a Travis Upp sacrifice fly. Alec Brunson scored when the next batter Andrew Lawvere doubled to make the score 2-0 after one.
In the second inning, Mohler came to the plate with two on an lifted a home run to make the score 5-0.
It was a 5-4 game in the eighth when the 'Dons added an insurance run on a sacrifice fly by Upp to score Aaron Chapman.
The Mastodons used six pitchers on the day. Trevor Armstrong started and went 3.0 innings, allowing one run. He gets the win and is 1-0. Sean Ferguson threw a scoreless ninth for the save.
Brunson finished 4-for-5 with four singles. Mastodon batters worked six walks in the game.
Purdue Fort Wayne is 4-0. Alabama A&M is 0-4. The 'Dons return to action this weekend at Alabama State.
