The Mastodons went up 5-3 with a five spot in the third inning. The big hit was a grand slam by Andrew Lawvere. Alabama State chipped away at the Mastodons' lead and took control of the game with a six-run sixth inning.
Garrett Mohler had two hits in the game including a double. He knocked in a run and scored a run. Jack Lang scored twice, walked twice and had a single.
Chase Phelps started and went 2.2 innings and earned a no-decision. Brian Skelton relieved Phelps and suffered the loss. Darrius Wright started for Alabama State. He went 6.0 innings to pick up the victory.
Purdue Fort Wayne is now 4-1. Alabama State is 3-1. The two clubs will play the middle game of their three-game series on Saturday.
