'Dons Fall to Leathernecks

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's basketball team dropped its home contest to Western Illinois 90-61 Wednesday night (Feb. 6).
De'Jour Young led the Mastodons with 17 points, while recording a career-high six steals. Kierstyn Repp dropped in 16 points, 12 of which came from long distance. Hannah Albrecht and Sh'Toya Sanders each finished with 12 points. Sanders also pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.
The Mastodons hung with Western Illinois through the first five minutes of the game, as the two teams traded baskets. The Leathernecks used an 11-0 run over a span of 2:59 near the end of the first as the 'Dons were unable to recover from it.
For the game, the Mastodons finished 22-of-62 (35.5%) from the field, 6-of-25 (24%) on 3-point attempts, and 11-of-14 (78.6%) at the free throw line. The 'Dons are now 6-17 on the season and 2-9 in Summit League play.
Purdue Fort Wayne has a week off before returning to action at Denver on Wednesday, January 13 for a 9 p.m. ET tipoff.
