'Dons Fall In Final Game of Summit League Series At Oral Roberts

TULSA, Okla. – Purdue Fort Wayne out-hit Oral Roberts on Sunday (March 17) 11-8 but fell in the series finale 7-5 to the Golden Eagles.
The Mastodons scored first for the second straight game thanks to a two-spot in the first inning. Trenton Stoner started the game with a single to left and came around two batters later on a Garrett Mohler triple. Mohler scored on a two-out RBI single by Robert Young III.
Young put together another two-out RBI in the third when he knocked in Stoner. It was 3-0 entering the bottom of the third but the Golden Eagles tied it with a three-spot. The Golden Eagles took the lead at 5-3 with two runs in the fourth on a two-run home run by Drew Lowe.
The Mastodons scored their other two runs on single runs in the sixth and eighth. The Mastodons' best chance to take the lead back came in the eighth when they loaded the bases with two outs but they could only force one run home.
Young had three hits. Stoner and Mohler each had two hits. Mohler also walked once.
Purdue Fort Wayne starter Shane Odzark threw 7.0 innings. He struck out eight Golden Eagles. Tyler Kissinger threw a no-run eighth inning for the 'Dons.
Purdue Fort Wayne chased Oral Roberts starter Isaac Coffey after scoring three runs off of him in three innings. Coffey would not factor into the decision. ORU reliever Sam Rainwater tossed 3.2 innings to get the win. He is 1-0. Odzark is now 0-3.
Oral Roberts improves to 9-8 (3-0 Summit League). The 'Dons fall to 4-14 (0-3 Summit League). The 'Dons are back in action on Wednesday (March 20) at Ball State.
