The Mastodons scored five runs in the sixth inning to tie the game at 6-6. Aaron Chapman, Trenton Stoner and Mohler all knocked in runs in the inning.
The 'Dons took a 10-7 lead thanks to a four-spot in the eighth inning. Alec Brunson and Travis Upp each knocked in a run in the inning. It was an 11-8 game after the top of the ninth when Yoho hit a home run to left field. However in the ninth the Cardinals scored four times to complete the come-from-behind victory 12-11.
For the Mastodons, Stoner, Yoho, Robert Young III, Chapman and Brunson all had multiple-hits. Brunson finished with three hits. Chapman had a pair of doubles. Upp walked three times
Cade Willard threw two scoreless innings, facing seven betters in the process. Garrett Hill had a scoreless frame. Tyler Kissinger took the loss. Ball State's Landon McGill received the victory.
Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 4-15. Ball State is now 12-9. The 'Dons are back in action on Friday (March 22) in a league series at Omaha.
