Omaha Takes Game One Of Summit League Series

OMAHA, Neb. – Robert Young III knocked in three runs in Purdue Fort Wayne baseball's 11-4 loss at Omaha on Friday (March 22) in a Summit League contest.
Following a first inning run by the Mavericks, the 'Dons tied it up the next half inning with a single run on an RBI single by Aaron Chapman to score Andrew Lawvere. Omaha then scored once in the third and three in the fifth to take the lead back.
Purdue Fort Wayne made it a 5-3 game with a two-RBI double by Young in the sixth. Young then knocked in another in the eighth.
Garrett Mohler and Chapman each had two hits for the Mastodons.
Cameron Boyd started the 'Dons. He threw 5.0 innings giving up one earned run. He received the loss. Joey Machado picked up the win for Omaha after 5.1 innings. Tyler Daugherty tossed the final 1.1 innings to get the save.
Braden Rogers and Jack Lombardi each had three RBI for Omaha.
The 'Dons and Mavericks will play again on Saturday in a 7 p.m. ET first pitch in the middle game of the series.
Purdue Fort Wayne is now 4-16 (0-4 Summit League). Omaha improves to 12-5-1 (4-0 Summit League).
