OMAHA, Neb. – Purdue Fort Wayne fell 6-1 to Omaha on Saturday (March 23) evening in a Summit League game.
The Mastodons tied the game at one in the fourth with their only run of the game. Garret Mohler singled to start the frame and went to second on an Andrew Lawvere single. Mohler would score on an RBI single by Aaron Chapman.
Chase Phelps suffered the loss. He didn't walk a batter and struck out four while giving up three earned runs in 6.1 innings pitched.
Omaha scored single runs in the second, fourth, sixth and seventh innings. Their two-run eighth inning helped put the game away.
Omaha starter Payton Kinney tossed eight innings to get the victory.
The 'Dons are now 4-17 (0-5 Summit League). Omaha moves to 12-5-1 (5-0 Summit League). The final game of the series will be played on Sunday in a noon ET start.
