Mastodons Drop Series Finale to Coyotes

VERMILLION, S.D. - The Purdue Fort Wayne softball team dropped its series finale at South Dakota on Sunday (March 31) by a score of 6-0.

Morganne Denny, Camryn Mosher, and Ashley Haas each collected a hit on the day for the 'Dons.
Â
All six of the Coyotes' runs came with two outs. The Yotes scored one in the second and then five in the third, all of which were unearned.
Â
The Mastodons twice loaded the bases but were unable to bring a run home. In the first, Lacey Wilzbacher was hit by a pitch, Denny followed with a single to right and Alise Hale drew a two-out walk. The fifth inning saw Mosher lead off with a bloop single down the right field line before Haas doubled down the right field line. One out later, Wilzbacher was again hit by a pitch to load the bases before a fly out ended the inning.

Alyssa Malicki took the loss she allowed only one earned run on five hits in 2 2-3 innings of work. Shaina Eyre came on for the final 3 1-3, surrendering zero runs on three hits and recording a strikeout.
